Details80% Virginia Grown Shetland Wool, 10% Merino Wool, 10% Nylon
400 yard skein, approx 3.5 oz
Natural colored pale grey lofty smooth, soft, yet strong fingering weight yarn that is a beautiful example of what Shetland yarn can be. A wonderful choice for not only socks, but lace shawls and Fair Isle or stranded knitting.
This yarn was 5 years in the making, experimenting with mills, growing our flock to include several of the natural colors that Shetland is known for. Shetland wool developed through natural selection - is a combination of a cashmere like undercoating with soft-strong guard hair. This wool is unique in that it resists pilling and is a good wool choice for heirloom knitting.
This yarn knits well on antique circular sock machines, take a look at our 1910 Shepherd Socks to see how nicely this yarn knits up.

Shipping was very timely. The yarn is beautiful with a gorgeous halo. I can't wait to start knitting. I may have to order some more colors to go with it.
